Teahupoo Weather

Tahiti-bungalow is located in Teahupoo, not far from the extreme southeastern tip of the island of Tahiti. This advantageous positioning offers a well-defined microclimate different from the rest of Tahiti, which you must understand to make your vacation a success! Two seasons exist:

  • Matarii i raro (April/May to October/November): the constellation of stars called Pleiades disappears from the Polynesian sky until next year. It is the period of less abundance for fruits, vegetables and even fish at sea. In Teahupoo, it is the season of the trade winds called Mara'amu (southeast winds) which bring a little freshness and also some rain. It is also the season for south and southwest swells coming from the southern hemisphere. In short, it's our tropical winter at 20/25 degrees!

It's the ideal time for wind enthusiasts, surfers from all over the world, those who don't like the heat too much, who love the gentleness of the wind, the sunsets on Fare Mahora Point, hiking while sweating less... .

  • Matarii i nia (October/November to April/May): the Pleiades are back in the Polynesian sky. Land and sea food returns in abundance. The trade winds calm down and the waves are smaller in the ocean. The rains become much rarer here (unlike the rest of Tahiti!) because the Mara'amu (southeast trade winds) no longer blows! This allows for even more drier hikes, especially those subject to the weather risks of swell and rain. The number of sunny days is at its maximum, the sun sets directly into the calm sea. Even amateur fishing is easier! Outings to the Pari coast, on foot or by boat excursion, are much more likely... It's summer, it's more like 30°!

Our ethics

eco-responsibility

Eco - Construction

The construction materials are, at 80%, natural or recycled, the house being entirely made of wood, from the structure to the frame and the shingled roof while the walls are made of recycled wood chip panels.

Eco - Ventilation

The location in relation to the path of the sun and the prevailing winds, as well as the arrangement and multiplication of openings provide natural ventilation allowing air conditioning to be dispensed with, even during the hottest months of the year. Each room nevertheless includes a small auxiliary fan, if necessary.

Eco - Energy

Tahiti-bungalow plans to switch to solar energy 100% as soon as possible by installing solar panels connected to the central network allowing, without the use of polluting batteries, to redistribute to the community the surplus electricity produced that you would not consume.

Sorting of waste

4 separate bins are at your disposal during your stay: recyclable waste, glass, compost and non-recyclable waste. All food waste is immediately consumed by the tahitibungalow animals (ducks and eels) which you can feed freely. The compost enriches the vegetable tables on the land.
